Proposed design for Art Installation Display Case

Our Bridge of Weir Art Installation

2025-11-10  •  No comments  •  renjv252008  •  Johnstone & Villages

It is hoped that we could have a notice board that would be used to display artwork from the local primary school children. These would be changed each year so the notice board would be locked and opened each year to change the displays. This could be made from recycled plastic or marine ply.

DISPLAY AREA of notice board would be Width 90cm x Height 70cm.  Once installed the notice board would not exceed 180cm in height.

The Display Case would be Dark Green in colour to reflect it's surroundings, as on a grass area with trees directly opposite.

The image shown is to show a possible design for the display case, but not preferred colour.

Altpatrick Gardens - Improve Area

2025-11-20  •  No comments  •  rho2527  •  Housing Officer  •  Johnstone & Villages

Altpatrick Gardens is made up of four blocks here. Block one has a lovely patio area for the residents to sit out and enjoy. However, this requires an upgrade as there are broken benches and dead plants. A new table and chairs, including addional benches would benefit the residents here. A shade area would be beneficial such as an awning. The plant pots are in good condition, however would benefit from new plants with low maintenance to brighten the place up.

There is also an issue with identifying the blocks here. New signage for the area would help the residents, visitors and deliveries to these blocks. This could include identifying each individual block and providing signs which can direct to each block from the main parking area.

5,11, 15 & 17 Macdowall Street, Johnstone - Clean and paint closes

Closes are dirty with paint flaking from the walls and cobwebs in the every corner. An overall clean and fresh paint of the closes here would make a massive improvement to these buildings.

The Oaks

2025-12-04  •  No comments  •  rho2521  •  Housing Officer  •  Johnstone & Villages

A wide tarred or resin path coming from the double silver gates and leading to the seating area at the communal garden at the Oaks Sheltered housing complex.  I think a large path going from the double gates to the seating area would ensure all residents can access the area without going over the grass or residents gardens it would also be wheelchair accessible. The reason i'd like tarred or resin is to stop the issue of moss and weeds growing through and making it unsightly or dangerous for the elderly residents to walk on. I would also like to propose the path already there which comes from the communal lounge to the seating areas be replaced with a wider tarred or resin path for the same issues as already mentioned and the slabs underneath the benches replaced with same material to try and stop the yearly struggle of the ground becoming slippery for the residents.  I have used the resources availabe to me to tidy up the paths surrounding the areas however the funding needed for this project would be more than we have available.

11, 15 and 21 William st Johnstone Bin sheds

2025-12-05  •  No comments  •  rho2523  •  Housing Officer  •  Johnstone & Villages

11, 15 and 21 William st have free standing concrete bin sheds in all rear gardens. These are unsightly and attract a lot of flytipping/rubbish as tenants tend to leave bins out front. If concrete bin sheds could be removed and slabbed areas to contain bins this would be more presentable for the area.

Clean and re-paint close & remove bin shed and install slabs in back garden

2025-12-12  •  No comments  •  johnstone.hps@renfrewshire.gov.uk  •  Johnstone & Villages

Doing a full close clean and re-paint close of 47 Sycamore Avenue. Also, remove the bin shed in the back garden and install slabs. The bin sheds are not being used and can be used for flytipping which causes rodent issues.

32 & 50 Macdowall Street Johnstone

Closes are dirty looking with paint flaking off the walls. There are cobwebbs in around the ceilings of the closes. These buildings would massively benefit from a full clean and fresh paint throughout.
