How to submit an idea

A simple guide to help you submit your ideas

If you are a Renfrewshire Council tenant, you should have received your login details. If you need a copy of this information again, please email the team at youdecide@renfrewshire.gov.uk

Residents across Renfrewshire can create an account to log in to the site. 

To create an account you should:

  • open the sign in page
  • choose a username and enter your email and password

Please note that your chosen username will be visable to others on the site.

Completing your application

Once you begin your application, you can save and edit it at any time until applications close by agreeing to the Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions of Use and clicking the 'Submit application' button. As the author of the application, an 'Edit' option will appear next to your application which you can use to make further changes - don't forget to save as you go. 

We are aware that there can be some isses with copying and pasting answers into your application if you have already drafted them on Microsoft Word. If this happens, refresh the page and type your information straight into the application without copying and pasting. If you are still having issues with error messages, please email us at youdecide.renfrewshire.gov.uk and we will do our best to resolve them. 

What to include in your appliation

Heading: Use the drop down-box to tell us which local area your idea is within.

Title: Give your application a title. For example, environmental improvements and the name of your street. Remember, that when people vote for their favourites, the title is the first thing they will see!

Project summary: Keep it short and sharp; this is to provide a quick overview and is limited to 200 characters.

Description: Tell us more about your project and why it's a great idea. It's important to make sure you use this section to cover: 

  • What difference would the project make to your neighbourhood?
  • Who will the project benefit?
  • Why do you think tenants should vote for this idea?

Estimated price: If you have an idea of the cost to deliver the project, you can add it here. If not, please insert 0 here and the team will update this with costs prior to the voting stage.

Please note, that this box will not accept anything other than numbers so enter 1500 instead of £1,500.

If you are submitting this project on behalf of someone else, please provide their name, contact number and email address here: All information in this box will come to the team but will not be published on the live site. By providing their details, it means we can keep them up to date with their application. 

Supporting images, videos and documents: If you have an image, video or document that supports your project submission you can upload this here. This can be used as evidence of the need for the project, or to give an example of something similar which has been delivered elsewhere.

We would encourage you to upload an image for your application as this really brings each project idea to life. If you don't have an image, you can search Pexels.com for high quality, open source images and find one that suits your project.

You may find that an image you have is too small for the site. If this happens, open the image seperately on your device and find the option to resize your image in the editing menu. Make sure that the image height is a minimum of 1024 pixels and save the image. You should now be able to try uploading it to your application again. 

If you try to upload a document or image and it doesn't work, check the file type is accepted and the size of the document is allowed. If you decide not to upload a file after clicking the 'Add image' or 'Add new document' button, make sure you click the red 'Cancel' icon under the box to confirm you are not trying to add anything to your application. 

Map location: To find the map location for your project.

  • use the plus and minus buttons to zoom in or out of the map
  • drag the map to find your project location. This can be just over the property or on the land your project relates to.
  • click once on the place you want to put your 'pin' and a blue symbol will appear.

Tell us more about the location:

  • Is the project idea for land at the front, back or side of a specific street number?
  • What change do you hope to see, as a result of your project if it was to be delivered?

If you are proposing on behalf of a group or organisation, write its name: Confirm the name of the group or organisation you're applying for. If you're an individual applying with the support of an organisation, please clearly state that here. 

Once you are happy with your application, tick the box to agree to the Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions, followed by the 'Submit application' button.
