Project Description

Every year swifts fly in the skies over the Lochfield, Dykebar and Thrushcraigs area. Nest sites are gradually being reduced for these migratory birds through overdevelopment. The installation of swift boxes would encourage the swifts to return every year, and offer unique opportunities for children living in council homes to see nature up close. The boxes could go under the eaves of the upper floors. I think swift boxes might be part of new builds but it would be nice for older homes to have them as well. It would be good for the environment, biodiversity and people, who will be able to enjoy the healing benefits of nature.
