Project Description

I would like to propose the creation of a secure, enclosed dog exercise field within our local park.

Many residents own dogs but do not have access to safe, enclosed spaces where they can exercise them off lead. A fenced dog field would provide a dedicated area for dogs to run freely, play, and socialise in a controlled environment, while giving owners peace of mind that their pets are safe.

This facility would benefit a wide range of people in our community, including:

• Owners of energetic dogs who need regular exercise.
• People training recall or working with rescue or nervous dogs.
• Elderly or less mobile residents who would find a secure space easier and safer to use.
• Families who want a designated area for dogs, helping to reduce conflicts with other park users.

An enclosed dog field could also encourage responsible dog ownership by providing a suitable place for off-lead exercise, reducing the likelihood of dogs running into roads, disturbing wildlife, or approaching people who may be uncomfortable around dogs.

The space could include:

• Secure perimeter fencing with a gated entrance.
• Benches for owners.
• Waste bins and bag dispensers.
• Clear signage promoting responsible use.
• Natural features or simple agility equipment for enrichment.

This would be a valuable investment in the wellbeing of both residents and their dogs, encouraging outdoor activity, social interaction, and greater use of our local park. It would create a positive community asset that could be enjoyed by many for years to come.
