Proposal to rename Andrew Avenue, Renfrew
Renfrewshire Council is running a poll of residents of Andrew Avenue in Renfrew to gauge whether there is support for a process to formally rename Andrew Avenue in Renfrew.

At its meeting of 11 December 2025, Renfrewshire Council passed the following motion:
"Council notes the recent stripping of titles from the from Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor by The Crown, and the ongoing national concern regarding his behaviour and character. Council further notes that Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, as former Prince, has the honour of having Andrew Avenue in Renfrew named for him.
Council confirms its position that persons having a street named after them are being given a great honour, and that those persons should therefore be honourable and worthy of the recognition.
Given the change in Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s status, Council directs officers to initiate a consultation with the street’s residents on the possibility of renaming Andrew Avenue."
The Council is therefore running a poll of households living on Andrew Avenue, Renfrew seeking views on whether households would support a formal proposal to change the name of Andrew Avenue in Renfrew. This poll is restricted to households living on Andrew Avenue. Each household has been provided with a unique code to allow it to vote, and it is requested that the views of all residents within the household are considered before you respond to the poll.
Depending on the results of the poll, if the Council decided to proceed with the renaming of Andrew Avenue it would be required to run a formal consultation which would be open to the wider community.
No alternative name for Andrew Avenue is proposed at this time.

This is a ridiculous waste of money added to the cost in time for all residents to notify/change all necessary documents etc. Find another Andrew to name it in honour of.
Yes, let's keep the name and find another Andrew to honour. Save the headache and nominate someone else more worthy.
Not at all would cause a lot of problems from my car insurance house insurance credit rating as it is still a change of address
Can we not just use the name St (saint) Andrew Avenue, - who we all know is patron saint of Scotland, but I agree who is going to pick up the cost with regards to changing of documents, will we get a reduction in our council tax to offset the expense.
